Hospitality & Tourism Management - Animated Videos
Art direction, project management, and media production for a group of thirty-two introduction and companion videos for the Hospitality & Tourism Management text book.
In-house we had started to use storyline to create animations. Initially videos had not been storyboarded and were done in a more fluid process. Given the scope of the project and complexity of each video I was brought on to storyboard all the videos.
Robust storyboards were key to keep the project on time. We had a limited budget for contracted illustrators and had already dug into those hours. Being able to give our contractors storyboards that they could follow, and also be able to approve artwork in a good time frame was key to get the project done on time.
To ease production I decided to use stock illustration for ideas that could be easily found and edited. A good example was the Las Vegas strip. A classic image, the Vegas skyline can be easily found in stock illustration catalogs. By using an existing illustration we had time to develop an entrance animation for each of the buildings.
